ProEd Global School Reception Class focuses on providing a fun, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for our youngest students. With small class sizes and a high teacher-student ratio, we aim to create a warm and inclusive atmosphere where children can learn and grow through sensory integration, play, and hands-on experiences.
Our Teaching Approach
Our teachers use an inquiry-based approach, which encourages the students to take an active role in their education by exploring, asking questions, and sharing ideas. We find that this approach is incredibly effective in helping our children to form a deep love for learning from an early age, as well as many other benefits.
Our Curriculum
The programme we offer is based on the British Early Years framework and covers seven main areas of learning:
- Mathematics: Children learn numbers, shapes and space and measures such as time, length and weight. Practical uses of Mathematics are explored through the current topic or theme.
- Literacy: Children begin to learn the building blocks for reading using a systematic synthetic phonics program. We engage them through quality fiction and non-fiction texts related to a specific topic or theme.
- Physical development: Children engage in activities promoting motor skills and spatial awareness, fostering strength and confidence through play.
- Emotional and social development: Activities encourage empathy and cooperation, while guided interactions build emotional intelligence and communication skills.
- Communication: Children practice expressing themselves verbally and non-verbally, fostering vocabulary development and confidence in articulating ideas
- Understanding the world: Children explore different areas of provision within the indoor and outdoor environment e.g., mark-making, messy play, water, sand, dough and creative construction.
- Expressive arts and design: We teach these subjects through themed units, such as dinosaurs, space, jungles, and the seaside, using a combination of teacher-led lessons and student-led discovery.
We understand that every child is unique and may require additional support. That’s why we offer individualised education and a range of therapy services, including Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and counselling. ProEd Global School is the only school on the island with an Early Intervention Model, ensuring that our students have access to the support they need without disruption to their regular education.
